Extra help can assist military members, Veterans and their families in life-changing ways Support Our Troops programs assist CAF members and their families who need extra support due to the challenges of their military service. It’s well known that military families face many challenges, including risk, long absences and relocations. These challenges can be compounded by trials and tribulations that arise due to military service. Support Our Troops emergency financial assistance provides extra support to the people who need it. The COVID-19 Emergency Grant was established to provide an immediate solution of modest support to members and their families during the pandemic. “Support Our Troops was there for our family when we needed it the most. The COVID-19 Emergency Grant allowed my husband to self-isolate away from our primary residence upon returning to Washington State. We are now reunited as a family and life has returned to a new normal, considering the circumstances.” - Elizabeth Morris Support Our Troops also provides emergency grants and loan to help military members and their families cope during financially stressful situations. The Support Our Troops Holiday Food Hamper Program launched in 2015 offers vulnerable CAF members and their families additional support during the holiday season. “Feedback received from recipients of this program go a long way in showing the extent to which this “thumbs-up rather than hands-out” has brought smiles to members and their families during the uncertain times of the lockdown. This gesture of goodwill is a morale booster to our members and their families, to feel appreciated and cared for by Canadians.
